I am Marinette Smith and I am a cancer thriver, Certified Holistic Cancer Coach, and have 8 years under my belt as a registered nurse. My journey with cancer started in my early thirties and it’s hard to believe that I am going on 9 years without evidence of disease. It has been a long journey and I had to find information mostly on my own for guidance during and after cancer. This ultimately led to lifestyle changes that improved my health and well-being, but I was frustrated that I had to do much of this on my own or rely on family and friends to help me find the answers I was searching for. While going through cancer and later assisting patients and their loved ones with cancer I noticed that there is a need for guidance, healthier habits, and frankly cancer support in general. I know that I felt alone even though I was surrounded by people, those people just didn't get it though. I yearned for connection even before I was diagnosed, but it lasted for many years after treatments ended. This fueled a deep desire to help others who are in the same boat with cancer and after cancer treatment. Really, no one should feel like they are in it alone, without truly understanding what resources there are out there in the world that can help, and making these literal life or death decisions with the limited information that is presented to people from a conventional medical perspective. You are the reason I can't sit back and not share the knowledge I've gained that can potentially help you with making the best decisions for yourself. Lives are what matter and because of this I’m passionate about helping others take back their health and become advocates for themselves in any and every area of their lives. When it comes to cancer - knowledge is truly power!
